Holder tells Congress the Obama administration wants to ban guns

 Last Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to answer questions about his role in the deadly “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal. However, instead of answers, Congress got more defiance, more arrogance, and more wasted time with an attorney general who clearly feels no sense of obligation to the American people or our rule of law.
But for all the stonewalling, there was at least one telling moment at this hearing, and it should concern law-abiding gun owners and all Americans who expect accountability from our government.
In a rash attempt to deflect attention away from himself and his own irresponsibility, Holder let Congress know that the Obama administration is still working toward the day when it can reinstate former President Bill Clinton’s so-called “assault weapons” ban. According to Holder:

This administration has consistently favored the re-institution of the assault weapons ban. It is something that we think was useful in the past with regard to the reduction that we’ve seen in crime, and certainly would have a positive impact on our relationship and the crime situation in Mexico.

It’s difficult to follow Holder’s logic here, but it goes something like this …
The Obama administration — particularly Eric Holder’s Justice Department — oversaw an epic scandal whereby our own federal government illegally funneled thousands of firearms into the hands of Mexican drug lords. This contributed to the death of one U.S. Border Patrol agent and hundreds of Mexicans.
Despite being head of the Justice Department and our nation’s chief law enforcement officer, Eric Holder claims he doesn’t know how or why this scandal occurred, or even who under his charge may have authorized it. He also refuses to turn over critical documents to congressional investigators that could help prevent something this tragic and corrupt from ever happening again.
Therefore, Obama and Holder are confident that if they can ban a large number of the legal firearms that law-abiding Americans use every day for self-defense, hunting, and recreational and competitive target shooting, it will help solve Mexico’s crime problem.
What’s particularly galling about Holder’s shallow and illogical attempt to use “Fast and Furious” to further the Obama administration’s gun-ban agenda is that during the same hearing, he lectured Congress for playing political “gotcha” games in an election year.
Amazingly, Holder seems incapable of understanding that this isn’t a Republican or Democratic issue, it’s an American issue, and all Americans deserve to know how and why their government purposefully allowed thousands of guns to flow into the hands of murderous Mexican drug cartels. The family of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry deserves to know why two of these guns were found at the scene of Terry’s murder.
Eric Holder’s Justice Department oversaw this illegal operation, but all Holder is willing to do is call for gun bans on law-abiding Americans, withhold critical information from Congress, and pat himself on the back for a job well done. As Holder told Congress on Thursday: “I’m proud of the work that I’ve done as attorney general of the United States, and looked at fairly, I think I’ve done a pretty good job.”
Eric Holder has long since proved himself inept and incapable of holding the trust that Americans place in our nation’s chief law enforcement officer. The longer Holder refuses to step down as attorney general, the more lasting his damage to this sacred institution will be.

Prop. 8 overturned in California, court says state can’t ban gay marriage

The 9th Circuit Court in California struck down as unconstitutional the state's voter-passed ban on gay marriage Tuesday, ruling 2-1 that it violates the rights of gay Californians.
"Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples," Judge Stephen Reinhardt wrote in the decision. The court concludes that the law violates the 14th Amendment rights of gay couples to equal protection under the law. Access to gay marriage will remain on hold pending appeals to the decision.

The Circuit Court backed up District Judge Judge Vaughn Walker, who ruled in August of 2010 that the state of California has no "rational basis" to single out gay men and women as ineligible for marriage. The group fighting for Prop. 8, which passed in 2008 after thousands of gay couples had already married, appealed Walker's decision arguing that it should be vacated because Walker is gay and has a same-sex partner. The 9th Circuit Court judges denied this motion.
Walker's sweeping 2010 decision was called a "grand slam" by gay rights advocates, who hoped it would convince the Supreme Court to rule states cannot outlaw gay marriage. But Reinhardt was explicit in his decision that his ruling is "narrow" and only relates to California, not to the entire nation. In California, gay people had the right to marry for five months before it was taken away by voters. This amounts to a violation of equal protection because a right was specifically taken away from a minority group, Reinhardt writes. But this argument would not apply to gay people in most other states, where gay marriage was never legalized in the first place. "It's a strong decision but it is not the ringing endorsement of broader marriage equality that some might have hoped for," Hunter College professor and gay rights advocate Kenneth Sherrill said.
But University of California Irvine law professor Erwin Chemerinsky tells Yahoo News that the underlying reasoning in the decision is broad--there's no legitimate state interest in denying same-sex marriage rights. Chemerinsky noted that the decision appeals to swing vote Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, by citing his decision in a 1996 case striking down a Colorado law that prevented communities from treating gay people as a protected class.
Ted Olson, the U.S. solicitor general under President George W. Bush who represents the plaintiffs, said at a press conference that the decision is the first step to ending discrimination. "Today we are more American because of this decision," he said.
The pro-Prop. 8 camp has said it will appeal the decision. The group can now ask for 11 members of the 9th Circuit hear their case, instead of just the panel of three who decided against them on Tuesday. "Today's ruling finally clears the field for an appeal to the United States Supreme Court, where we are confident we will be victorious," the Save Prop 8 campaign said in a statement.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released a statement saying the "fight" over states' rights to ban gay marriage is not over. "Today, unelected judges cast aside the will of the people of California who voted to protect traditional marriage," he said, adding that he would appoint judges who oppose same-sex marriage if he's elected. President Obama also opposes same-sex marriage, but says that his opinion on the issue is "evolving."

American kids denied food stamps in Alabama under immigration law

 Some U.S.-born children with parents who are illegal immigrants have been denied food stamps under Alabama's new immigration law, Southern Poverty Law Center President Richard Cohen told Yahoo News on Monday.
Five people have called into the group's Alabama hotline to say they were denied food stamps because they couldn't prove they were legal residents, even though the food stamps are for their children, who are citizens.
Cohen says the civil rights group, which has already filed two lawsuits against Alabama over the law, will most likely bring another suit over the denied food stamps.
The law makes it a felony for a government employee to engage in "business transactions" with illegal immigrants, which some government employees have interpreted very broadly. Illegal immigrants have been told they can't pay their utility bills or even their taxes because it would count as a "transaction" with the government, according to Cohen.
Barry Spear, a spokesman for Alabama's Department of Human Services, said in an email to Yahoo News that it is not the agency's policy to demand proof of citizenship from the guardians of Americans who need food stamps. "We are unaware of any violations of the policy," Spear said.
Several parts of the law have been temporarily blocked pending the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals decision on whether the law is constitutional or not. But the "business transaction" prohibition, as well as a mandate for local police to ask for proof of legal status during stops, were left to stand. Some Republican lawmakers say they want to amend the law this year, while a coalition of Democrats is trying to repeal it entirely.
Illegal immigrants are prohibited from accessing most welfare benefits, including food stamps, non-emergency Medicaid and cash welfare programs. Their children, if born in America, can access welfare programs as citizens. (The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that about 4.5 million American citizens under 18 years old have at least one undocumented parent.)
Last month, Kansas kicked more than 1,000 mixed-status families off its food stamp program when it joined three other states in adopting a stricter food stamp eligibility policy. A low-income family of five made up of two undocumented parents and three citizen children now has to show that its income is close to the poverty level for a family of three--not a family of five--in order to access food stamps. This is intended to prevent illegal immigrants from benefiting from food stamps, but immigration advocates say it will leave citizen kids hungry.
The Justice Department has sued Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina and Utah over laws that crack down on illegal immigrants, saying they interfere with the federal government's control over immigration. The Supreme Court will hear arguments over Arizona's SB1070 beginning on April 25.

Clinton: Housing is key to fixing nation's economy

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton says the key to fixing the nation's economy is to address the struggling housing market and foreclosures.

Clinton, in a speech Saturday night at the Las Vegas Anti-Defamation League's annual American Heritage Dinner, said "it's as simple" as fixing the mortgage business, cleaning up banks' books and letting "them start loaning again."

The Las Vegas Sun reports (http://bit.ly/xxJc0J ) he drew the biggest applause of the night when he addressed the issue of immigration, and the value immigrants add to the country.

Clinton urged the crowd to keep up the fight against intolerance, racism and bigotry, and stressed the importance of not letting differences lead to hate.

Among those in attendance was Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley of Nevada, who's challenging Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller. Editor's note: It's good that the former President gave a speech to the ADL on keeping up the fight against intolerance, racism and bigotry. The Anti-Defecation League is the nations' biggest purveyor of hate. And if he wants to really make a difference he should open up his Long Island mansion to the poor and downtrodden immigrants. Don't just talk the talk Billy Boy!

Waldorf, Md. Mall Shut Down During Mad Dash for Air Jordans

On December 23, 2011, at approximately 5 a.m., security personnel at the St. Charles Town Center requested police assistance in reference to a large crowd.  Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene to discover hundreds of people waiting outside the mall entrances for the sale of the new Air Jordan XI Retro Concord tennis shoes.
With a limited number of shoes available, people began lining up overnight for an early morning opening. Police were reportedly out in force. The crowd became disorderly shortly after 5 a.m. and forced their way inside the mall near the food court entrance and once inside ran toward each of the six shoe stores inside the mall.
A few scuffles broke out as people jockeyed to get in line again. Forty officers were on scene. Six arrests were made. Of the six arrests, four were juveniles and two adults. One officer suffered a minor injury to his hand.
Deputies had shut the mall down for about 45 minutes while the crowd was disbanded. Police remain on scene and continue to monitor the situation. Other area malls had a much worse situation. According to a press release from Anne Arundel County Police, Westfield Annapolis Management consulted with the stores selling the shoes and the pre-sale was cancelled.
The St. Charles Town Center  has been reopened for business.  More information to follow as it becomes available.

Survival of the Whitest: inside an Afrikaner boot camp

At a right-wing training camp, young South Africans are being trained to fight for their Afrikaner heritage

Thick clouds of diesel smoke fill the air outside a rundown guest farm, three hours’ drive east of Johannesburg.

As the stench dissipates, a group of boys, aged between 13 and 19, spill from the bed of a rusty truck, lugging huge bags full of military clothing.

'There are old bloodstains on my uniform,’ one of them says, as he trades his trainers for army boots.

Shouted orders ring out. Groaning, the boys raise 15ft tent poles among the cowpats dotting the grassland. The large army tent that they put up will be their home for the next nine days.

South African teenagers often go off to camp during school holidays to learn how to start fires, build huts and identify animal tracks. But this survival camp is different. Here, the focus is on the survival of white South Africans.

The participants are all Afrikaners, descendants of Dutch, German and French colonists. They are also all children of the 'born-free’ generation, born after 1990 into a multiracial South Africa.
'I don’t know what apartheid is,’ 13-year-old Jano, the youngest member of the group, says. 'But a long time ago, Nelson Mandela made it so everyone has the same rights.’

Their position as the first generation of whites in the new, integrated South Africa makes them an interesting demographic. They are supposed to help bring about unity and change. But according to Prof Elirea Bornman at the University of South Africa, as Afrikaners many of them feel unsure about their place in their homeland.
'They have a strong Afrikaner identity and they are struggling to determine their position in South Africa,’ she says. 'There’s a great deal of anger, too. They know they’re different from the rest of the population.’
That anger is fuelled in part by positive discrimination, which has made it harder for white youth to find jobs and which fans the flames of racism. Many of them feel unwanted. 'Anyone [in authority] can take their frustration and channel it in a negative way.’
The boys run from the army tent to the mess hall. Before them, under the glare of fluorescent lighting, stands 57-year-old Franz Jooste. Army decorations gleam on his uniform; Jooste fought in the old apartheid army. 'We’re going to make men of you all,’ he says in Afrikaans.
Jooste is the head of the Kommandokorps, a little-known but potentially dangerous extreme right-wing group. On its website, the Kommandokorps describes itself as an elite organisation, 'protecting its own people’ in the event of an attack, necessary 'because the police and the military cannot provide help quickly enough’.
The organisation, though small and not familiar to many in South Africa, claims to have trained more than 1,500 young Afrikaners in defence skills over the past 11 years. Jooste, who spreads his message via email and newsletters, says that 40 per cent of boys sign up themselves. The rest are volunteered by their parents.
Kommandokorps feeds on anxiety. Though the national crime rate is dropping, South Africans are increasingly anxious. Every year, 16,000 murders are committed and 200,000 assaults with intent to cause bodily harm. The violence breeds a sense of fear.
As a result, farmers organise themselves into countryside militia and patrol at night to ensure their cattle are not stolen, urban residents form neighbourhood watches, and every South African (white and black) who can afford it hires a private security company that will send an armed response team to his home when the alarm goes off. All of which provides fertile ground for an organisation such as the Kommandokorps.
'We always have to lock our doors at night,’ Nicolas, 18, says. 'This camp will teach me how to protect my father and mother and little brother and sister.’ But the group’s leader has a greater objective.
It is 4.30 on the first morning of camp. The boys are sent out on a one-and-a-half-mile run in their heavy army boots, down a rocky country road filled with potholes.
Sixteen-year-old EC is in the middle of the exhausted troop. Though not one of the youngest present, he is one of the smallest, a childish teenager who is primarily excited at being able to shoot his paintball gun.
'I want to be able to defend myself. And I am also doing this for my paintball career,’ he says with a smile.
At 18, Riaan is more self-assured. 'I want to learn how to camouflage myself in the field,’ he says.
As we talk about their country, the teenagers say they believe in the idea of South Africa, the 'rainbow nation’. 'People generally get along pretty well,’ Riaan says. 'We have to fight racism.’ EC has two black friends, Thabang and Tshepo. 'I don’t like racism,’ he says.
Yet some of the older generation’s fears are visible in these boys, even though they were born after the end of apartheid. 'I’m terrified to walk past black people,’ Jano says. EC says he would never marry a black woman. The boys seem trapped between the ideas their parents have passed on to them and what they learn at their mixed-race schools and experience daily.
Jooste sits in the mess hall and looks through the glasses on his nose at the following day’s programme. Kitsch paintings of buffalo, elephants and rhinos hang on the wall. The wicker furniture is covered in zebra-print fabric.
Jooste is a proud veteran. He fought along South Africa’s borders with Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and Mozambique in the 1970s and is scarred by what he calls treason. While he was fighting for the white regime, his leaders were making peace with Mandela. 'Aside from the Aborigines in Australia, the African black is the most underdeveloped, barbaric member of the human race on earth,’ he tells the boys during one of his lectures.
Few of South Africa’s 4.6 million whites (in a population of 50 million) share Jooste’s desire to return to the past. The country’s lone Afrikaner political party, the Freedom Front Plus, polled only 0.83 per cent of the vote in the 2009 general election. The majority of whites support the new democratic South Africa.
'There are a few right-wing splinter groups, though I think they have no more than a thousand active members,’ says Prof Hermann Giliomee, a historian specialising in Afrikaners. The most prominent is the AWB, the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (Afrikaner Resistance Movement), with which Jooste shares certain ideological views, but that organisation has lost momentum since the murder last year of its leader, Eugène Terre’Blanche.
As the voice of hardcore Afrikaners has become quieter, men such as Jooste have become more desperate to preserve, as he sees it, the Afrikaner identity, and establish a new independent Afrikaner nation. That means cultivating a new generation.
Jooste is lecturing in the mess hall. 'Who is my enemy in South Africa?’ he asks. 'Who murders, robs and rapes?’ His cadets sit cross-legged on the ground. 'Who are these creatures? The blacks.’ Jooste goes on to tell the boys that black people have a smaller cerebral cortex than whites, and thus cannot take initiative or govern effectively.
Jooste boasts that it will take him only an hour to change the boys’ minds. 'Then they’ll know they aren’t part of the rainbow nation, but part of another nation with an important history.’
He picks up the South African flag, which was adopted in 1994, and lays it before the entrance to the mess hall like a doormat. He orders the boys to wipe their filthy boots on it. They laugh uncertainly, then they do as they are told. Jooste tells them that they should love the old South African flag and the old national anthem.
Indoctrination takes root best in exhausted minds. Outside, the cadets are made to crawl across the ground, gripping a wooden beam they call 'sweetheart’ in their arms, their knuckles bleeding. 'Persevere! You’ve got to learn to persevere!’ Jooste shouts.
The sound of crying rises from the rearmost ranks. Jooste’s assistants, older members of the Kommandokorps, grin as they take photos of the boys with their mobile phones. It feels almost sadistic.
EC is struggling. The beam weighs almost a third as much as he does. The nights, too, are hitting him hard. 'We sleep on the ground and our sleeping bags get wet,’ he says. 'In three nights, I’ve slept six hours. Every day I think about giving up.’
Frans Cronje, the deputy CEO of the South African Institute of Race Relations, insists that 'relations between black and white are civil’, but while he dismisses Kommandokorps as an extremist fringe, he believes that the camp none the less represents a real concern. Jooste’s message is that conflict between whites and blacks is just around the corner. 'I think we’re sitting on a timebomb here in South Africa,’ Jooste says. 'It’s inevitable that something is going to happen in this country, because there is discord.’
Cronje’s worry is that it takes only one boy to act on Jooste’s words for there to be a serious incident. 'When you convince a child that blacks are the enemy, the danger is that he will act upon it. He gets a gun, climbs on to a bus full of black schoolchildren, and shoots 20 of them dead. That’s a realistic danger. It’s brainwashing, and it’s easy to do.’
At camp, the young faces are increasingly marked by exhaustion as the days pass, yet the boys seem to grow more and more confident. 'The training has taught me that you should hate black people,’ EC says. 'They kill everyone who crosses their path. I don’t think I can be friends with Thabang and Tshepo any more.’
Riaan repeats what he has learnt in nine days almost word for word: 'There’s a war going on between blacks and whites. A lot of blood will flow in the future. I definitely feel more like an Afrikaner now. I feel the Afrikaner blood in my veins.’
Jooste maintains that he doesn’t want to force the boys in any particular direction. 'All we want to do is channel the feeling they already carry within them,’ he says. 'We don’t want them to hate. We just want them to love their own culture, traditions and symbols, and to fight for independence and freedom.’
As he prepares to leave camp on the final day, Riaan appears to have absorbed Jooste’s message: 'This is my country,’ he says. 'I will fight for it.’

Civil rights group backs lawsuit challenging Maryland Congressional map

Nine Marylanders backed by a civil rights organization out of Prince George's County filed a federal lawsuit Thursday aimed at undoing the new Congressional map passed by the General Assembly last month.

The suit alleges that the growth of black, Asian and Hispanic groups in Maryland merits a third "majority-minority" district. "Under this plan, African-Americans and other minority communities are fractured among multiple districts for the benefit of white candidates," according to the lawsuit.

Maryland's Attorney General has analyzed the map and determined that it would pass legal muster.

The suit also challenges Maryland's first-in-the-nation law that counts prisoners at their last known address rather than the state or federal facility at which they are imprisoned. In defending that law, Maryland's AG noted that other states are allowed to count college students and military families at addresses other than where they sleep each night.

The plaintiffs were assembled by the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee, a group founded last year to promote additional minority controlled Congressional and legislative districts. It will be funded, at least in part, by a group out of Iowa called the Legacy Foundation, said Radamase Cabrera, a spokesman for Fannie Lou.

Young Hispanic population key to futures of Texas and U.S., demographers contend

Texas’ young and rapidly-growing Hispanic population is the key to the state’s long-term growth – and policy makers should find a way to prepare the demographic group to replace older, retiring workers. 

Demographic scientists pitched that conclusion at a presentation and discussion Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

The presentation, entitled “Progress 2050: New Ideas for a Diverse America,” was hosted by the liberal think tank Center for American Progress.
The presenters pointed to data obtained from the 2010 Census, which showed a large increase in the Hispanic population, especially among children and a rapidly-aging white population.
The U.S. Census Data showed that:
-New minorities, especially Hispanics, accounted for all U.S. population growth of children under age 18 since 2000.
-While the under-18 non-Hispanic white population declined by over 4 million over the last decade, the Hispanic under-18 population grew by nearly 5 million.
-Only 51 percent of the U.S. population under five years of age is non-Hispanic white, and a quarter of that population is now Hispanic.
-73 percent of the nation’s 50-64 year-old population is white.
Texas is among the states most affected by the changing demographics.
Texas ranks fifth in the nation in the gap between the white share of the under-18 age population and the over-65 age population. Fewer than 40 percent of Texas children are identified as white and in every county in southern Texas, more than 60 percent of infants under one-year-old are non-white.
Demographers William H. Frey, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Dowell Myers, a demography and urban planning professor at the University of Southern California, said American policy makers need to improve education for the growing Hispanic population to help them step into the jobs being vacated by the largely white population that’s approaching retirement age.
“This trend undoubtedly brings some challenges,” said Frey. He cited emergence of s0-called “racial generation gaps:” disconnects between older whites on the verge of retirement and a younger, more diverse population.
“Politically, an age-race divide could create even sharper diversions between candidates and parties that espouse more or less government support for measures benefiting the young, like education and affordable housing, and those befitting the old, like Social Security or Medicare,” Frey said.
Texas has been a battleground for exactly that sort of political divide. Gov. Rick Perry has taken repeated fire from fellow Republican presidential candidates for his support of the Texas DREAM Act that provides in-state tuition for students brought into the country as children by parents who were undocumented immigrants.
Myers said without the rapid infusion of immigrants and their children into the U.S. population, the U.S. would likely fall victim to the same stagnation in economic and population growth found in other industrialized countries such as Japan. The birthrate in Japan is too low to provide enough young workers to sustain the dependant elderly population projected to retire in the coming years.
“It really is a gift. It really is an advantage,” Myers said of the growing young Hispanic population.
Myers said U.S. policy makers need to focus on creating access to education and a path to citizenship for non-citizens among the nation’s young Hispanic population. He said investing in their futures now would lead to increased income tax revenues when they become professionals in a few years.
“These children are very expensive,” Myers said, “but they pay off down the road.”
Randy Capps, a demographer at the non-partisan Washington-based think tank Migration Policy Institute, said policy makers don’t necessarily need to choose between an expensive social welfare policy or long-term ruin. Other measures like delaying the retirement age can also help address the problem, Capps said.
The overall health of the economy is key to how the large young Hispanic population will fare in the coming decades, he added.
“Right now the economy is not in great shape for absorbing a lot of new workers,” Capps said. “But the kids will be here whether they’re productive workers or not.”

National Socialist group tricks German state into selling manor house

Officials in the former East Germany have been stung by revelations that they were hoodwinked into selling a listed 19th-century manor house to a National Socialist group which used a front woman posing as a practitioner of alternative medicine to complete the deal.

The disclosures in yesterday's Der Spiegel are a major embarrassment for the once Communist state of Thuringia, which spends €2.6m (£2.3m) a year combating extremism in a region renowned for NS politics and far-right violence. The NS group plans to use the mansion as a centre for far-right extremists and Holocaust deniers.

Martina Renner, a spokeswoman for Thuringia's opposition Left Party, said the sale of the property was scandalous. "The state government will have to explain how such a well-known building could be sold off to right-wing extremists without anyone realising what was going on," she added.

The manor in the small village of Guthmannshausen, 30 miles north east of Weimar, is a neo-classical property containing a pillared banqueting hall, a sauna and numerous outbuildings. Previously owned by the state government, it was sold in May to a dubious NS organisation called Gedächtnisstätte [Places of Remembrance], based in the western state of Lower Saxony. None of the officials involved realised that the buyer was a far-right group.

Yesterday, it emerged that Wolfram Schiedewitz, who is the president of Places of Remembrance, is a well-known extremist with a track record of propagating pro-NS views and Holocaust denial which goes back two decades. 

"We have finally found a new home," Mr Schiedewitz declared in a message to his supporters. "We want to fill it with memory of our Second World War civilians who were the victims of bombardment, expulsions and prison camps." 

But experts said they were certain the group intended to set up a rallying point for the far right. The group's clandestine purchase fits a well-defined strategy which has enabled NS to gradually increase their presence in the former Communist East since Germany's reunification in 1990. 

"The acquisition has enabled the far right to strengthen its infrastructure," said Fabian Virchow, a political analyst. In the days that followed, a tall, slender man in a hat began walking to and from Apartment 13100, police and neighbors said. He spoke softly, often had a cellphone to his ear and once was seen dragging a large television box to McQuain’s Honda, neighbors said. He told one resident that he was returning the TV to the store, then put the box in the back of the SUV and drove off. That was on Oct. 5.

It wasn’t until Wednesday, exactly a week later, that Montgomery County authorities found McQuain’s body in her bedroom. She had suffered some type of undisclosed physical trauma. There still is no sign of William, who by now has missed eight days of his sixth-grade classes.

Police found McQuain’s Honda near Charlotte on Thursday morning and have charged McQuain’s estranged husband — the man allegedly seen carrying things to and from her apartment — in her killing, authorities said. The husband, Curtis Maurice Lopez, 45, was convicted in 1987 in a stabbing and served more than a decade in Pennsylvania prisons. He is not William’s father, authorities said.

Lopez was taken into custody in North Carolina about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, about an hour after the Honda was found, said Capt. Paul Starks, a Montgomery County police spokesman.

Police said there is nothing to indicate that William was harmed, but detectives are looking for the boy and have no sense of where he might be.

“We have no physical evidence of this kid,” said Montgomery Police Chief J. Thomas Manger. “What gives us the most concern is that he’s been missing now for 11 or 12 days.”

Friends said McQuain’s death is even more unfortunate because she worked so hard to turn her life around and to protect her son from her problems. A recovering alcoholic who at one point lived in homeless shelters, McQuain, 51, found sobriety seven years ago and dedicated herself to William.

“I have never seen someone do a turnaround in her life like she did,” said Ronald McCombs, who had a long relationship with McQuain and helped raise William in his early years. McCombs said William never met his father, who knew McQuain only briefly. “She always said that she had nothing else to live for but her son. She loved little Will.”

Lopez was part of the former life that McQuain tried so hard to forget, friends said. In 1985, Lopez was arrested and accused of stabbing a man more than a dozen times and leaving him on a Pennsylvania interstate to die. McQuain testified on his behalf at the trial, after which Lopez was convicted and sentenced.

McCombs said McQuain never divorced Lopez because he was incarcerated. Lopez constantly tried to be a part of her life after his release years ago. But McQuain rebuffed him, McCombs said, and his entreaties for money scared her.

Support for same-sex marriage has increased dramatically over the last 20 years, survey shows

The University of Chicago has released figures showing that support for same-sex “marriage” has increased tremendously over the last twenty years. And they attribute this to the approval of young people who they claim are leading the way for a dramatic cultural shift.

In 1973, 70 percent of Americans felt homosexuality was “always wrong,” the report revealed. By 2010, the percentage of those who felt that homosexuality was “always wrong” had dropped to 44 percent.

The report, conducted by the General Social Survey and directed by Tom W. Smith, asked more than 2,000 people if they thought that homosexual behavior was always wrong. 26% percent of those under thirty said they did believe it was always wrong compared with 63% percent of those over seventy. There is definitely a generation gap.

Public attitudes on the issue are highly polarized, the researchers found. Although 44 percent of those surveyed felt that sex between two adults of the same sex is “always wrong,” 41 percent thought such behavior was “not wrong at all.” Only 11 percent of the people surveyed fell somewhere in the middle.

Support for a homosexual person’s right to speak publicly jumped to 86 percent in 2010 — up from 62 percent in 1972. Meanwhile, support for homosexuals teaching at colleges or universities rose to 84 percent in 2010, up from 48 percent in 1973. The researchers also found more people approved of library books that cast a favorable light on homosexuality. Support for these books rose from 54 percent in 1973 to 78 percent in 2010.

Even though the best data available puts the number of homosexuality at somewhere between 1% and 4% of the U.S. population, on average American adults believe that 25% of the population is homosexual, according to a Gallup poll.

Over half of Americans estimate that 1 in 5 (20%) are homosexual, and thirty-five percent estimate that 1 in 4 (25%) are homosexual, according to the poll, which involved interviews with 1,018 U.S. adults in all 50 states.

The most recent study to look at the question of how much of the population is homosexual was released earlier this year by The Williams Institute of the UCLA School of Law. It found that only approximately 3.5% of the population is gay. But this 3.5 % of the population is very influential in changing America.

In the early 90’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) activists in Massachusetts sought to indoctrinate school children with homosexual values. Sodomite activist Kevin Jennings, who was later appointed by President Obama as the assistant deputy secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools inside the Department of Education, was the visionary who came up with the anti-bullying programs in schools as a way to promote homosexuality.

“If the Radical Right can succeed in portraying us as preying on children, we will lose,” warned Jennings in a 1995 speech to fellow GLBT activists outlining his strategy. “Their language–‘promoting homosexuality’–is laced with subtle and not-so-subtle innuendo that we are ‘after their kids.’”

Jennings argued that the road to acceptance was in “framing” the issue in another way.

His plan consists of bombarding school children with the concepts that most people have in common – compassion. He calls this “universal values” and connected to it is the right to “safety.” The homosexual movement would then present the idea that “homophobia” presented a threat to gay students. Once there was a general consesus built that opposing homosexuality was a clear and present danger to young people then legislation was the perogative. This legislation is not simply intended to protect homosexuals, but to provide a reason for including lessons about the so-called positive attributes of homosexuals (as the state of California now mandates) in schools along with sensitivity training and creating an image of homosexuals as a cool lifestyle.for schools that frames the GLBT agenda in the language of these universal values.

“This framing short-circuited their arguments and left them back-pedalling from day one,” boasted Jennings. “[N]o one could speak up against our frame and say, ‘Why, yes, I do think students should kill themselves:’ This allowed us to set the terms for debate.”

While many continue to deny that the changing attitude toward gay “marriage” and homosexuality is the result of an organized sodomite plan, a recent article in an online homosexual publication proves that it is indeed true.

“Why would we push anti-bullying programs or social studies classes that teach kids about the historical contributions of famous queers unless we wanted to deliberately educate children to accept queer sexuality as normal?,” wrote Daniel Villarreal on Queerty.com, a website that promotes the gay agenda.

“We want educators to teach future generations of children to accept queer sexuality. In fact, our very future depends on it. Recruiting children? You bet we are,” he added.

“I for one,” continued Villarreal, “certainly want tons of school children to learn that it’s OK to be gay, that people of the same sex should be allowed to legally marry each other, and that anyone can kiss a person of the same sex without feeling like a freak. And I would very much like for many of these young boys to grow up and start f**ing men.”

Identity of Mexican rapist of 9-year old girl confirmed in Mexico

CINCINNATI - Fingerprints confirmed the identity of Butler County’s Most Wanted criminal, Alfredo Lopez Cruz, who is currently behind bars in Mexico City.

The Butler County Police Department released a statement Wednesday that the FBI confirmed Cruz is the suspect wanted in connection for the 2005 brutal kidnapping and rape of a 9-year-old Hamilton girl.

He was found in Mexico on March 18 by authorities and is being held in Mexico City, awaiting extradition to the U.S.

The process can take anywhere from six months to two years if Cruz chooses to waive or fight extradition.

According to Butler County officials, Cruz was in the country illegally at the time of the crime. He faces one charge of kidnapping and four counts of rape.

Feds ask court to block Alabama’s immigration law

Central regime continues to stand in the way

The US Federal Government is attempting to stop Alabama from acting to slow down the flow of illegal immigration and the displacement of native Alabamians. Fox News reported on the story:

The Obama administration asked an appeals court on Friday to block the enforcement of Alabama’s strict immigration law — widely considered to be the toughest in the nation — arguing it invites discrimination against foreign-born citizens and legal immigrants and is at odds with federal policy.

The Justice Department filed the challenge to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. It claimed Alabama’s new law “is highly likely to expose persons lawfully in the United States, including school children, to new difficulties in routine dealings.”

The overhaul allows authorities to question people suspected of being in the country illegally and hold them without bond. It also lets officials check the immigration status of students in public schools.

A federal judge in Alabama upheld those two key aspects of the law, which have already taken effect.

Those provisions that took effect are what help make the Alabama law stricter than similar laws passed in Arizona, Utah, Indiana and Georgia. Other federal judges have blocked all or parts of the laws in those states.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Friday that President Obama has been clear on his position that “efforts to address the issue of America’s broken immigration system through a patchwork of state laws will only create more problems than it solves.”

Alabama shrugged off the appeal.

“The fact that the Department of Justice has appealed comes as no surprise,” Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley said. “I remain committed to seeing that this law is fully implemented. We will continue to defend this law against any and all challenges.”

Immigration became a hot issue in Alabama over the past decade as the state’s Hispanic population grew by 145 percent to about 185,600. While the group still represents only about 4 percent of the population, some counties in north Alabama have large Spanish-speaking communities and schools where most of the students are Hispanic.

The Justice Department’s appeal said parts of the law conflict with federal rules, and that “attempts to drive aliens `off the grid’ will only impede the removal process established by federal law.” It also said the legislation could impact diplomatic relations with foreign countries.

“Alabama is not in a position to answer to other nations for the consequences of its policy,” it said. “That is the responsibility of the federal government, which speaks for all the states and must ensure that the consequences of one state’s foray in to the realm of immigration law are not visited upon the nation as a whole.”

It also said requiring officers to report people without adequate credentials to federal immigration officials “unnecessarily diverts resources from federal enforcement priorities and precludes state and local officials from working in true cooperation with federal officials.”

THE FINAL WORDS OF A MAN MURDERED BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

I, GORDON KAHL, a Christian Patriot, and in consideration of the events which have taken place within the last few hours, and knowing to what-lengths the enemies of Christ, (whom I consider my enemies) will go to separate my spirit from it's body, wish to put down on paper a record of the events which have just taken place, so that the world will know what happened.

I feel that the awesome power which will be unleashed, to silence forever, my testimony, will, if not checked by the power of my God, who is the God of Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob, will cut short my time to leave to the world, these happenings. Therefore, I'm going to make this record, and leave it in the hands of those who I know will bring it to light, even though I may in the meantime be extinguished.

While urgency, or human weakness, tells me to run, my spirit says write, so this I am going to do. And if my God continues to protect me, I shall write first, and flee from the hands of my enemies later.

We had just finished our meeting in Medina, concerning how we could best implement the proceedings of the Third Continental Congress, which was to restore the power and prestige of the U.S. Constitution up to and including the 10 Articles of the Bill of Rights, and put our nation back under Christian Common Law, which is another way of saying God's Law, as laid down by the inspiration of God, thru His prophets and preserved for us in the Scriptures, when word was received from someone whose identity I am not able to give, that we were to be ambushed on our return to our homes.

I realize now that we did not take this warning as seriously as we should have. The reason for this was because it has happened so many times before, when nothing happened. I see now that the many false alarms were to cause us to lower our guard.

As we pondered what to do, someone suggested that we take two cars instead of one. Consequently, I went with Dave Brewer, and my son Yorie, Scotty Paul, my wife Jean, and Vernon Wagner, went in our station wagon. At this time none of us really expected any trouble, but just to be on the safe side, my son Yorie, myself, and Scotty prepared to defend ourselves, in the event that an attack upon us, should take place.

As we came over one of the hills just north of Medina, I saw on the top of the next hill what looked like two cars parked on it. About this time they turned on their red lights, and I knew the attack was under way.

We were just coming to an approach and I told Dave to pull in on it and stop. Our other car pulled in just beyond us and stopped, also. I looked back in time to see another vehicle coming from behind with it's red light on. I picked up my Mini-14, and I got out and got myself and my weapon ready as the vehicle coming from behind skidded to a stop about 20 feet away. The doors flew open on it and the two men who were in the front seat aimed their guns at us. My son Yorie had jumped out of the other car and had ran over to a high-line pole. The two cars which we had seen ahead of us, pulled up and stopped behind us.

A man got out of the vehicle which had come from behind us, and ran out into the ditch on the east side of the road. During this time there was a lot of screaming and hollering going on but nothing else, so it appeared to be an impasse.

About this time a shot rang out and the driver of the car who I believe at this time must have been supposedly in command, turned around and stood up so he was looking at his man in the east ditch, and toward the cars which had come from the north and yelled "Who fired, who fired?" The other man who was with him, echoed his question.

At the time the shot rang out I heard Yorie cry out "I'm hit, I'm hit" I took my eyes off the two men who were yelling "Who fired", and looked over at Yorie. He was still standing, but I could tell he was in pain from the way he stood. About this time, another shot rang out, and I heard Yorie cry out again. I looked over and saw that he was hit again and laying on the ground. I looked back toward the two men and saw the one in the passenger side aim at me and I was sure then that they felt the situation was no longer under their control, and the only thing to do was kill us all.

Before he was able to fire, I loosed a round at the door behind which he was standing, and while I don't think I hit him, I caused him to duck down behind the door.

I looked around again toward Yorie, and saw Scotty Paul running over toward him. I turned my head again in time to see the driver of the vehicle which had followed us raise up from behind the door and aim his gun at Scotty. I moved my gun over and fired at him before he could shoot. I didn't hit him either, the bullet striking somewhere near the lower left hand corner of the windshield. He ducked down behind the dash so I could only see his head.

About this time the other man raised up and aimed at me again. I shot again striking the door and causing him to duck. This happened several times, with the two men alternating, and my shots causing them to duck each time before they could aim and fire. I don't know how many times I fired, until the man on the passenger side fell, and I was able to tell he was out of the fight. The driver must have seen this as he moved his gun from Scotty's direction toward me.

I fired several more shots at him each time he raised up to shoot at me. I finally realized this could keep up 'til my 30 round clip was empty. My bullets appeared to be ricocheting off the windshield and door post. I ran around toward the side of the vehicle, firing at the door as I went to keep him down until I got around far enough to get a clear shot at him, at which time I know he was out of the fight also.

I ran back where I could see the third man from this north-bound vehicle just in time to see him raise up to shoot at Scotty, who had ran over to Yorie. Before he was able to pull the trigger I fired and he fell to the ground. At this time I saw the man who was behind. the front end of the green Mercury, raise up and aim at, Scotty. He saw me swing my gun in his direction, and he ducked down behind his car. I could see his feet or legs beneath the car, and I fired, striking him and putting him out of the fight.

I ran over to the man in the east ditch, thinking he might still be in fighting condition. When I got nearly to him, he raised up his head and said "Don't shoot me again, I'm all done". He had his hand on his shotgun so I took that and his pistol which was in his holster and threw them in the back seat of the green Mercury. I didn't see the man who had been behind the Mercury, and who I thought I'd hit in the leg, so I don't know where he'd gone to.

A pickup had pulled up behind the north-bound vehicle, but I didn't notice anyone in it or around it and I assume it was the pickup we saw on the top of the first hill as we came out of Medina, and which I believe belonged to the city, but as to who was driving it, I have no knowledge.

Scotty tells me he saw one and possibly two men run out into the trees and hide, but I have no way of knowing who they were.

I think from the reports I've heard on the radio which was in the Mercury, that the car which came from behind, was the one the Marshals were in. If this is so, they weren't the ones who fired the first shots. The two men who were in the front seat were both looking in the direction of the green Mercury when they were shouting, "Who fired?"

Yorie's .45 auto which he had in his shoulder holster had either a rifle or pistol bullet imbedded in the clip, shattering the grips on both sides. Had he not been wearing it he would have been killed instantly.

Whether this was the first or the second shot that was fired at him I don't know, One was buckshot and the other was either a rifle or a high-powered pistol from the way the bullet looks.

I didn't see it, but it sounded as though Yorie's gun fired after he was hit. I think probably his finger tightened on the trigger when he was hit, but I know neither he nor Scotty fired before this, and whether either of them fired afterwards, I don't know. I know that if they did, they didn't hit anyone, as I knew when I hit each one of them, myself.

I saw a man in the clinic when we took Yorie in, who I think must have been the man in the pickup, who pulled up behind what I think was the marshals' vehicle. He had blood on his face and I think he was probably hit either by a bullet or bullets which glanced off the marshals' vehicle when I was firing at them. I didn't see him, and I know I didn't shoot at him, and I know neither Yorie nor Scotty shot at him.

Vernon Wagner was unarmed, so I know he didn't shoot at anyone and Dave Brower didn't shoot at anyone either. My wife had nothing to do with it, other than the fact that she had rode along with us, so she could visit with a couple of the other ladies who were coming to the meeting.

I want the world to know that I take no pleasure in the death or injury of any of these people, anymore than I felt when I was forced to bring to an end, the fighter pilots lives who forced the issue during WW II. When you come under attack by anyone, it becomes a matter of survival. I was forced. to kill an American P-51 pilot one day over Burma, when he mistook us for Japs. I let him shoot first, but he missed and I didn't. I felt bad, but I knew I had no choice.

I would have liked nothing other to be left alone, so I could enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which our Forefathers willed to us, this was not to be, after I discovered that our nation had fallen into the hands of an alien people, who are referred to us as a nation within the other nations.

As one of our Founding Fathers stated, "They are vampires, and vampires cannot live on vampires, they must live on Christians''. He tried to get a provision written into the U.S. Constitution that would have prevented Jews living inside the U.S. He warned his brethren that if this was not done their children would curse them in their graves, and that within 200 years, their people (the Jews) would be setting in their counting houses rubbing their hands, while our people would be slaving in the fields to support them. This has happened exactly as was predicted.

These enemies of Christ have taken their Jewish Communist Manifesto, and incorporated it into the Statutory laws of our country, and threw our Constitution and our Christian Common Law (which is nothing other than the Laws of God as set forth in the Scriptures), into the garbage can.

We are a conquered and occupied nation; conquered and occupied by the Jews, and their hundreds or maybe thousands of front organizations doing their un-Godly work. They have two objectives in their goal of ruling the world. Destroy Christianity and the White race. Neither can be accomplished by itself, they stand or fall together.

We are engaged in a struggle to the death between the people of the Kingdom of God, and the Kingdom of Satan. It started long ago, and is now best described as a struggle between Jacob & Esau.

I would like to write more but the Spirit says this must suffice for now. Should the hand of Elijah's God continue over me, and protect me, I shall someday see this once great nation swept clean of Christ's enemies, and restored to its former greatness. If it should be the will of our Father, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that it is to be, there will be no way Ahab's god and his people can stand before us.

Mystery Babylon with all its greatness, will be destroyed. Take heart, my fellow Christian Americans, God has said that there will be a great shaking in the land of Israel. That started this evening. Let each of you who says that the Lord Jesus Christ, is your personal Savior, sell his garment and buy a sword, if you don't already have one, and bring his enemies before Him and slay them.

If you've been paying tithes to the Synagogue of Satan, under the 2nd plank of the Communist Manifesto to finance your own destruction, stop right now, and tell Satan's tithing collectors, as I did many years ago, "Never again will I give aid and comfort to the enemies of Christ". To those of you who were engaged in the ambush and attack on us and were spared, thank God you have a chance to remove your support for the Anti-Christs who rule our nation.

To those of you who have been supporting the Edicts and Commands of the Great Whore ? Stop now and come out of her, as her time is getting short and when the hour of her judgment comes, that you be not judged with her.

I must cease now, and move on. If it should be the will of the Father that I have more to do for him, He will protect me, and no devise whatever that is used against me will succeed.

To my wife Joan, who has been with me for so long, I know this will be a hard and painful experience; however, remember the prophecy will be fulfilled, and you have now been a witness to some of it. Remember I love you as much today as I did when I first saw you more than 50 years ago. Put your trust in God, and whether I live or die, He will be with you to end of your days.

To my son Yorie and my dear friend Scotty -- you both displayed the qualities of first rate Soldiers of Jesus Christ. May God bless all of you.

I must now depart -- I have no idea where I'm going, but after some more prayer, I will go where the Lord leads me, and either live to carry on the fight, or die if that be the case, and for the present at least, I bid you all good-bye.
