NHL lacks conclusive evidence regarding slur
Queers upset Sean Avery got called a cigarette (fag)
NEW YORK (AP)—Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers escaped punishment by the NHL on Tuesday night because the league doesn’t have conclusive evidence he directed a homophobic slur at the Rangers’ Sean Avery.
Colin Campbell, the league’s senior executive vice president of hockey operations and former disciplinarian, said because of “conflicting accounts of what transpired on the ice, we have been unable to substantiate with the necessary degree of certainty what was said and by whom.”
Video replay appeared to catch Simmonds making an anti-gay (queer, gay means happy) slur against Avery during a preseason game in Philadelphia on Monday night. Avery confirmed that Simmonds made the remark, but Simmonds didn’t reveal if he did. However, Campbell said in his statement that Simmonds “expressly denied” making it.
Campbell added that none of the on-ice officials heard any slurs by either player, thus making the NHL unable to take disciplinary action now. He said the league reserves the option to “revisit the matter” should new information be found that conclusively shows a slur was made.
Last week, Simmonds—who is black—was involved in another controversy when someone threw a banana on the ice from the stands as he was taking a shootout attempt during a game in London, Ontario.
“All players, coaches and officials in the National Hockey League deserve the respect of their peers, and have the absolute right to function in a work environment that is free from racially or sexually-based innuendo or derision,” Campbell said in the statement. “This is the National Hockey League’s policy and it will remain so going forward.”
Earlier Tuesday, the Gay (sic)(queer) and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called for Simmonds to apologize for the slur and pressed the NHL to educate its fans about such remarks.
“Hate speech and anti-gay (sic)(anti-queer) slurs have no place on the ice rink,” GLAAD acting president Mike Thompson said in a statement. “The word that Simmonds used is the same word that is hurled at LGBT youth on the playground and in our schools, creating a climate of intolerance and hostility.
“He should not only apologize for this anti-gay outburst, but the Philadelphia Flyers and the NHL have a responsibility to take action and educate their fans(we don't need no education) about why this word is unacceptable.”
GLAAD said it has talked to the Flyers and the NHL about what specific steps can be taken. The organization added that it has worked with sports leagues such as the NBA, Major League Baseball, and the WWE to address issues of homophobia in sports.
“It also is important to emphasize that the National Hockey League holds, and will continue to hold, our players to higher standards with respect to their conduct both on and off the ice,” Campbell said. “While we recognize that the emotion involved in certain on-ice confrontations may lead to the use of highly charged and sometimes offensive language and commentary, certain lines cannot be crossed.

Murderers Bragged They Robbed and Hurt a “White Boy;” Media Mum
Editor's note: Another story from last summer but still relevant. Another of the thousands of black on white "hate crimes" that are not prosecuted as such and receive zero national media attention.
BALTIMORE,MD.--Two career criminals bragged to witnesses that they robbed and hurt a “White boy” (they in fact had killed him).
Yet this terrible racial bias crime has yet to be reported by any national media outlets.
Furthermore, one of the murderers had committed several violent crimes recently but was still free.
On Sunday night, July 25, Stephen Pitcairn was walking down the street in Baltimore, where he did research at Johns Hopkins to find a cure for cancer.
The young man was talking to his mother in Florida on his cell phone, when a male and a female accosted him and demanded his wallet.
He handed over the wallet without a fight, yet the criminals fatally stabbed him.
The murderers then went home and bragged to witnesses that they robbed and hurt a “White boy.” Mr. Pitcairn’s bloodied property was recovered from their house.
As of this writing on the evening of Thursday, July 29, 2010, this racially-motivated murder has not yet been reported by the Associated Press, Fox News, or CNN.
Searches of the victim’s name “Pitcairn” at those sites returns only articles about pirates, smugglers, and castaways in reference to the Pitcairn Islands in the South Seas.
The tragic story has only been locally reported in Baltimore, where the murder occurred, and Florida, where Pitcairn was from.
Why is this hate crime not garnering national attention?
The answer is as obvious as it is unjust: because the victim is White.
Were the roles of assailants and victim reversed, the media coverage would be nationwide!
If two White suspects bragged about how they robbed and hurt a “Black boy,” the news would be reported in heavy rotation on every television network and web portal.
The media elites downplay the severity and frequency of bias crimes against Whites, by selectively opting not to report on them.
This media whiteout keeps Whites from being aware of racial hatred against them, which in turn prevents them from mobilizing to protect their own safety.
Furthermore, the justice system panders to criminals.
Judge John Howard had the opportunity to put one of the murderers behind bars for two domestic violence cases and one assault committed over the last several months.
It is unconscionable the judge decided to be lenient and allow this dangerous criminal to roam loose on the streets, with fatal results.
His female accomplice also had multiple prior convictions.
A senseless crime of hatred such as the murder of Stephen Pitcairn is not one of those things that “just happens” and must be accepted to a certain degree in society.

White people will no longer make up a majority of Americans by 2042, according to the new JOG (Jewish Occupational Government) projections. That's eight years sooner than previous estimates, made in 2004, thus giving JOG a reason to celebrate Purim a little early next March.

Based on a one-year in-depth study, a researcher estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each.
Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute in Atlanta analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.
She found that while the offenders were located in 36 states, most were in states with the highest numbers of illegal immigrants. California had the most offenders, followed by Texas, Arizona, New Jersey, New York and Florida.
Schurman-Kauflin concluded that, based on a figure of 12 million illegal immigrants and the fact that more of this population is male than average, sex offenders among illegals make up a higher percentage than offenders in the general population.
She arrives at the figure of 240,000 offenders – a conservative estimate, she says – through public records showing about 2 percent of illegals apprehended are sex offenders.
"This translates to 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally per day," she says.
She points out the 1,500 offenders in her study had a total of 5,999 victims, and each sex offender averaged four victims.
"This places the estimate for victimization numbers around 960,000 for the 88 months examined in this study," she declares.
Schurman-Kauflin breaks down the 1,500 cases reviewed this way:
525, or 35 percent, were child molestations
358, or 24 percent, were rapes
617, or 41 percent, were sexual homicides and serial murders
Of the child molestations, 47 percent of the victims were Hispanic, 36 percent Caucasian, 8 percent Asian, 6 percent African American and 3 percent other nationalities.
In 82 percent of the cases, she noted, the victims were known to their attackers.
"In those instances, the illegal immigrants typically gained access to the victims after having worked as a day laborer at or near the victims' homes," she says. "Victims ranged in age from 1 year old to 13 years old, with the average age being 6."
In her examination of the sex-related homicides, Schurman-Kauflin found the most common method was for an offender to break into a residence and ambush his victims.
Not only were victims raped, she said, but some – 6 percent – were mutilated.
"The crime scenes were very bloody, expressing intense, angry perpetrator personalities," she said. "Specifically, most victims were blitzed, rendered incapable of fighting back, and then raped and murdered. The most common method of killing was bludgeoning, followed by stabbing."
She found it especially disturbing that in 22 percent of all sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants, victims with physical and mental disabilities were targeted.
The highest number of sex offenders, according to the study, came from Mexico. El Salvador was the original home to the next highest number. Other countries of origin included Brazil, China, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Russia, and Vietnam.
Nearly 63 percent of the offenders had been deported on another offense prior to the sex crime, the study showed. There was an average of three years of committing crimes such as DUI, assault or drug related offenses prior to being apprehended for a sexual offense.
In 81 percent of cases, offenders were drinking or using drugs prior to offending. Rapists and killers were more likely to use alcohol and drugs consistently than child molesters.
Only about 25 percent of offenders were found to have been stable within a community. In 31 percent of the crimes, the offenders entered into the communities where they offended within two months of the commission of their sex offenses.
But many, 79 percent, had been in the U.S. for more than one year before being arrested for a sex crime. They typically were known to the criminal justice system for prior, less serious offenses before they molested, raped or murdered, the study said.
Schurman-Kauflin concludes illegal immigrants gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported.
"Those who were deported simply returned illegally again," she says.
She points out that only 2 percent of the offenders in her study had no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally.
"There is a clear pattern of criminal escalation," she said.

Gaithersburg, Md. - Police in Montgomery County say a man is suspected of spraying at least two women with semen, and may have attacked even more victims.
Gaithersburg police say Michael Wayne Edwards, Jr. faces two counts of second-degree assault for using a pump bottle to spray semen on the backs of two women.
Investigators say back in July, Edwards sprayed semen on a woman as he left a supermarket. They also say Edwards did the same thing to a woman at a craft store last November.
He was first arrested for the more recent attack and posted $4,000 bond. He was picked up again on Monday for the craft store attack, and posted bond on that charge as well.
Police believe Edwards sprayed semen on more victims who had no idea what was going on.

The Village Where the National Socialists Rule
Hitler salutes in the street and firing practice in the forest: National Socialists have taken over an entire village in Germany, and authorities appear to have given up efforts to combat the problem. The place has come to symbolize the far right's growing influence in parts of the former communist east.

Horst and Birgit Lohmeyer have been working on their life's dream for six years, renovating a house in the woods near Jamel, a tiny village near Wismar in the far northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Birgit Lohmeyer writes crime novels, her husband is a musician, and both try to pretend everything is normal here in Jamel.
It wasn't easy to find their new home. The Lohmeyers spent months driving out to the countryside every weekend, heading east from where they lived in Hamburg, but most of the houses they saw were too expensive. Then they came across the inexpensive red brick farmhouse in Jamel. Slightly run-down, but not far from the Baltic Sea, the house sits surrounded by lime and maple trees, near a lake.
The Lohmeyers knew that a notorious National Socialist lived nearby -- Sven Krüger, a demolition contractor and high-level member of the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD). What the Lohmeyers didn't know was that other neighbors felt terrorized by Krüger. He and his associates were in the process of buying up the entire village.
Jamel is an example of the far-right problem that has plagued Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for years. The rural region, once part of communist East Germany, has a poor reputation in this regard -- the NPD, which glorifies the Third Reich, has been in the state parliament since 2006 and National Socialist crimes are part of daily life. In recent months, a series of attacks against politicians from all the democratic parties has shaken the state. Sometimes hardly a week goes by without an attack on another electoral district office, with paint bombs, right-wing graffiti and broken windows.
Norbert Nieszery, leader of the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the state parliament, calls it an "early form of terror." Nieszery's own office windows have been smashed twice. State Interior Minister Lorenz Caffier of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) says he has registered a "new level" of right-wing extremist violence. Only gradually did they realize just where they had ended up. Plaster crumbled from many of the houses in the village and one roof had collapsed completely. Beer bottles, car tires and gas canisters were littered behind the bus stop. There were metal fences surrounding some properties and attack dogs strained against their chains in the front yards. No one bothered to remove the swastika scribbled on the sign at the entrance to the village.
Children Giving Hitler Salute
There were young men with shaved heads and army trousers in the village and Nazi rock music could be heard from across the fields on the weekends. Shots sounded from the woods, where the neo-Nazis practiced their shooting -- police later found bullet casings in trenches there. When the Lohmeyers walked through the village, children raised their hands in the Nazi salute.

Still, for a long time, the Krügers were the only National Socialists in the village.
"Now," says Horst Lohmeyer, "they see Jamel as a 'nationally liberated zone'" -- a National Socialist term for places foreigners and those of foreign descent must fear to tread. The extremists took over the village in just a few years. They now own seven of the 10 houses and have driven out anyone who couldn't come to terms with them. They battered down doors and broke windows, slashed tires, flew the German imperial war flag and celebrated Hitler's birthday. In the 1990s, they stuck dead chickens on one family's garden fence with the warning, "We'll smoke you out."
The village emptied and Krüger encouraged his right-wing friends to buy the available houses. Few others dared to venture into Jamel anymore. National Socialists greeted one couple that wanted to move there with "Piss off" -- and the couple's house burned down shortly before they planned to move in. One new property owner dared to set foot in the village only accompanied by police.
The Lohmeyers have made it their life's work not to let themselves be driven out of Jamel. Each year, they host a rock festival on a field behind their house. Governor Erwin Sellering of the SPD has been patron of the festival since 2009. Police fence in the area and guard the entrance, and in past years, things remained largely calm.
Help is Far Away
This summer, though, National Socialists jumped over the fence, yelling slurs and attacking concertgoers. Police stepped in and stopped the troublemakers. But police can't always protect the Lohmeyers -- the nearest station is 12 kilometers away.

Jamel has become a right-wing pilgrimage site -- they come from all over Europe to see the village where National Socialists call the shots. They celebrated Krüger's wedding until late in the night, with nationalist rock music and fireworks. The Lohmeyers lay awake in bed, frozen with fear.
Mayor Uwe Wandel is helpless in the face of the right-wing movement in his community. He sounds bitter when he talks about Jamel. "The police, the authorities, no one dares to intervene," he says. "The Nazis are laughing in our faces." Wandel says he has repeatedly asked the state government for help. The interior minister and a parliamentary delegation came by one time, he adds. "They stayed for 20 minutes, expressed concern -- then they left again."
No One Responsible
Jamel has become a lawless place, Wandel complains, and the authorities don't take decisive enough action against the right-wing extremists. He says Krüger is allowed to dump demolition waste and burn trash in the village with impunity. The head of the department of public order in nearby Grevesmühlen says higher-level officials at the district level need to tackle the problem. They in turn say the local authority is responsible for Jamel.
Krüger, meanwhile, has much bigger plans. He has been a member of the district council for the NPD since 2009 and has bought parts of a concrete factory in Grevesmühlen, which he uses for his NPD office and his demolition company. The company logo shows the outline of a Star of David being smashed; the slogan is, "We do the dirty work." Barbed wire encloses the factory premises and dogs bark. A sign above the entrance reads, "Better dead than a slave." Krüger prefers not to comment on the accusations against him. All he says is, "Nothing that's written about me is true. I don't stand a chance against the system."
Krüger has hired new employees in the last few months. He gets contracts from fellow members of the far-right scene, but also from local businesses. Mayor Wandel says he's appalled by how far these right-wing structures now extend. "I'm afraid of a second, third, fourth Jamel," he says.
National Socialists placed a boulder at the entrance to the village. A plaque attached to the rock reads, "Village of Jamel - free, social, national." Signs next to it point the way to Hitler's birthplace ("Braunau am Inn 855 km") and to the formerly German cities of Breslau (now Wroclaw in Poland) and Königsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia). No one has removed the rock. "We've given up on Jamel," Wandel says.
Only the Lohmeyers are left.

Horst and Birgit Lohmeyer have been working on their life's dream for six years, renovating a house in the woods near Jamel, a tiny village near Wismar in the far northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Birgit Lohmeyer writes crime novels, her husband is a musician, and both try to pretend everything is normal here in Jamel.
It wasn't easy to find their new home. The Lohmeyers spent months driving out to the countryside every weekend, heading east from where they lived in Hamburg, but most of the houses they saw were too expensive. Then they came across the inexpensive red brick farmhouse in Jamel. Slightly run-down, but not far from the Baltic Sea, the house sits surrounded by lime and maple trees, near a lake.
The Lohmeyers knew that a notorious National Socialist lived nearby -- Sven Krüger, a demolition contractor and high-level member of the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD). What the Lohmeyers didn't know was that other neighbors felt terrorized by Krüger. He and his associates were in the process of buying up the entire village.
Jamel is an example of the far-right problem that has plagued Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for years. The rural region, once part of communist East Germany, has a poor reputation in this regard -- the NPD, which glorifies the Third Reich, has been in the state parliament since 2006 and National Socialist crimes are part of daily life. In recent months, a series of attacks against politicians from all the democratic parties has shaken the state. Sometimes hardly a week goes by without an attack on another electoral district office, with paint bombs, right-wing graffiti and broken windows.
Norbert Nieszery, leader of the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the state parliament, calls it an "early form of terror." Nieszery's own office windows have been smashed twice. State Interior Minister Lorenz Caffier of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) says he has registered a "new level" of right-wing extremist violence. Md. Holocaust survivors take rail fight to Congress
It wasn't until Ellen Lightman began to take care of her mother in her final years that she learned that the frail woman used her nightly prayers to whisper words of their family's painful past.
"Every night, she prayed that the last few seconds of her parents' life went quickly," said the Baltimore County woman, whose grandparents, great-grandparents and aunt were killed in the Holocaust. "Those last few seconds were in the gas chambers." (Typical jew tactic of engendering sympathy. Her whole family was slaughtered but she miraculously survived)
"They never would have gotten there had they not been transported by the railroad," she adds, wihout pause.
More than six decades after World War II, survivors of the Holocaust and descendants of its victims are waging a battle with the French railroad over history and fairness.
At issue is whether the rail company — the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français, or SNCF — can be held liable for transporting some 76,000 Jews and others to Nazi death camps.(I'm not making this up)
Lightman and others who are fighting SNCF are now hopeful they can leverage a legislative victory in the Maryland General Assembly this year into momentum for a stalled bill in Congress that would open the company to reparation lawsuits. (The jews will invent all kinds of ways to make money)
Though the legislation has failed in the past, advocates are citing Maryland's new law as they search for new co-sponsors on Capitol Hill to help push the measure forward.
Two lawmakers, including Western Maryland Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, a Republican, signed on last week to bring the number of supporters to 43.
"We're trying to bring closure," said Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (jew), who has backed the bill in the past and is doing so again this year. "Those who are victims have the right to get information made available so that we can bring closure to that chapter in history."
But the debate has raised difficult-to-answer questions about French culpability for the crimes of the Nazis. After the Germans invaded France in 1940, they installed a collaborationist government in Vichy and seized the rail system. Holocaust survivors and SNCF have argued fiercely over whether rail officials were coerced by the Nazis or were willing partners.
For the past decade, 650 Holocaust survivors, including 11 in Maryland, have pursued the company in federal court. The group sued SNCF in 2001, arguing that the company knew of the packed and squalid conditions Jews were forced to endure in the rail cars.
The lawsuit made it to the Supreme Court but was dismissed under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, which limits plaintiffs' ability to sue foreign governments. The company has argued in U.S. courts that it is an arm of the French government; its critics have maintained it is a separate entity.
The legislation pending in Congress would end that debate by lifting the protection from the company.
Jerry Ray, a spokesman for SNCF America, said the Nazis had seized the country, and SNCF employees — none of whom work at the railroad today — were forced to take the actions they did.
Ray said the French government, which owns the company, began reparation programs soon after France was liberated in 1944, and paid out more than $1.4 billion in claims to date.
"This bill, directed exclusively at France — our oldest ally — invites foreign countries to open up their courts to allow retaliatory lawsuits against the United States and its entities from any corner of the globe," Ray said.
The legislation, he said, "serves no public purpose since non-litigious reparations programs … have long been available to residents of France during World War II and their children, including U.S. citizens."
While the fight over SNCF has raged for years in Washington, it has cropped up more recently at the state level as the company's U.S. subsidiaries have bid on rail projects paid for with economic stimulus money.
California's legislature approved a bill last year that required companies bidding on rail projects to acknowledge whether they transported victims during the war, but then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed it. In Florida, SNCF put in for a $2.6 billion rail project that was ultimately canceled.
The company's $80,000 donation to a Holocaust education program in Florida brought accusations that it was trying to buy support for its bid. The company has honored its commitment to the program even though the rail project was shelved.

NAACP leader talks of Troy Davis execution
Ben Jealous gives keynote speech at UM School of Social Work's 50th anniversary celebration
Troy Davis failed to prove to correction and legal officials that he was innocent of killing a police officer 22 years ago, but in the eyes of NAACP President Benjamin Jealous he has all the attributes of a hero.(Yeah right)
Jealous told a group of social workers and teachers Saturday who were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the University of Maryland School of Social Work that they could use Davis' experience to shape their own life journeys.
Davis was executed by lethal injection last week for the 1989 killing of off-duty officer Mark McPhail in Savannah, Ga., in a case that made headlines around the world. The execution came after some witnesses recanted earlier testimony and others fingered another man in the murder.
Jealous, who pushed for Davis' release, said Davis should be held up for sticking to his stance that he was innocent and showing dignity and humanity even as he was about to die.
Jealous recalled Davis' last conversation, which he heard from witnesses in the room, before he was executed.
He told the victim's family: "I personally did not kill your son, father and brother. I am innocent."
To his lawyers he said: "Keep digging. Keep fighting."
He told guards in the room: "May god (God) forgive you for what you are about to do. May god (God) bless all of you."
"In those three declared statements you see an honest candor and grace that says exactly who and what you are," Jealous told the crowd.
Jealous was the keynote speaker for the kickoff of the School of Social Work anniversary celebration. The theme of the day: "Bending the Arc toward Justice," a play off a quote made popular by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
"The Arc of the Universe is long, but it bends toward justice," King said in speeches throughout his civil rights career. Bostonian abolitionist Theodore Parker was the original author of the quote in the 1800s.
Richard Barth, dean of the School of Social Work, said the day's event was meant to remind people of the activist role that social workers can play.
"It is a fundamental part of what we do," Barth said.
Jealous, head of one of the oldest advocacy groups in the country, has roots in social work. He studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, where he earned a master's degree in comparative social research, which was under the school of social work. His grandmother and father-in-law were both social workers.
"Social work is a means and ends to social rights," he told the crowd.
The Baltimore-based NAACP got involved with the Davis case several years ago. In 2009, the civil rights organization launched the campaign called "I AM TROY," to try and get his conviction overturned for lack of physical evidence.
Jealous had met with Davis in jail. In the hours before his death, he led a rally and lobbied the Department of Justice to intervene on the basis of civil rights violations.
Davis' lawyers petitioned the Georgia Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court the day of his death. The highest court declined to intervene.
Jealous tweeted shortly after the execution: "In death, Troy Davis will live on as a reminder of a broken justice system that kills an innocent man while a murderer walks free."
Jealous told the crowd Saturday that social work and social activism can be tough work but faith can get them through it.
"If you refuse to let anything take away the humanity that empowers you to love anyone even when they are trying to stick a needle in your arm to kill you, you can achieve anything. For very few people can do that," he said.

"It is a fundamental part of what we do," Barth said.
Jealous, head of one of the oldest advocacy groups in the country, has roots in social work. He studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, where he earned a master's degree in comparative social research, which was under the school of social work. His grandmother and father-in-law were both social workers.
"Social work is a means and ends to social rights," he told the crowd.
The Baltimore-based NAACP got involved with the Davis case several years ago. In 2009, the civil rights organization launched the campaign called "I AM TROY," to try and get his conviction overturned for lack of physical evidence.
Jealous had met with Davis in jail. In the hours before his death, he led a rally and lobbied the Department of Justice to intervene on the basis of civil rights violations.
Davis' lawyers petitioned the Georgia Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court the day of his death. The highest court declined to intervene.
Jealous tweeted shortly after the execution: "In death, Troy Davis will live on as a reminder of a broken justice system that kills an innocent man while a murderer walks free."
Jealous told the crowd Saturday that social work and social activism can be tough work but faith can get them through it.
"If you refuse to let anything take away the humanity that empowers you to love anyone even when they are trying to stick a needle in your arm to kill you, you can achieve anything. For very few people can do that," he said.

White supremacists are outraged that Rudolf Hess' remains were exhumed and his ashes scattered to stop his grave from being used as a German shrine.
With Rudolf Hess' gravesite becoming a shrine for Neo-Nazis, cemetery officials in the German town of Wunsiedel told the Associated Press they exhumed and burned the bones of Adolf Hitler's deputy and scattered his ashes on Wednesday.
The news has outraged white nationalists, many of whom consider Nazi leaders heroes and European history a tenet of the movement’s pride.
“Malicious cowardice,” says Brian Culpepper, a Tennessee chapter leader of the National Socialist Movement, the largest Neo-Nazi organization in the U.S. “The man is dead, let him rest in peace. That goes for all the people who died in that conflict, on both sides.” While he hasn’t visited the burial site, Culpepper tells The Daily Beast that “treating the dead with respect is one of the things that separates us from the animals.”
In the 1920s, Hess was instrumental in helping fellow prisoner Hitler create Mein Kampf, which detailed his anti-Semitism and his theories of an alleged Jewish conspiracy to control the world. Rising through the Nazi Party ranks, Hess at one point was the third most powerful leader in the Third Reich, behind Hermann Göring and Hitler himself. Captured by the British as a prisoner of war when he parachuted into Scotland to broker peace, he eventually died—allegedly by hanging himself—in then-West Berlin's Spandau Prison in the late '80s at age 93. His remains were buried in a family plot in Bavaria until their exhumation Wednesday. His gravestone, which read "Ich hab's gewagt," or "I have dared," was taken down, according to Germany's Spiegel Online.

I think the Germans got inspired and thought—we’ve got our own terrorist, we can do this too!” Hess isn't the only Nazi to have his remains scattered far and wide. After his execution by hanging in Israel in 1962, Nazi official Adolf Eichmann's remains were also cremated and scattered at sea. He says a lot of “anti-white” policies and decisions “are often justified by the experience of World War II. It really scarred Europeans, and white Americans, too.”
Posters to Stormfront.com, a prolific chatroom and Web clearinghouse for white nationalists and “racial realists” as Stormfront’s founder Don Black (father of Derek) has described adherents to Newsweek and The Daily Beast, were alternately outraged or despondent.

According to Der Spiegel Online, the site had become a source of embarrassment for locals, but Neo-Nazis were not coming in as great numbers as in years past. “Until such gatherings were banned in 2005, each year hundreds, and sometimes even thousands, of Neo-Nazis would gather in the northern Bavarian town of Wunsiedel to march in honor of Rudolf Hess on Aug. 17, the anniversary of his death. But tired of the embarrassment and trouble caused by the marches and pilgrimages to his gravesite there, the community removed the grave this week, daily Süddeutsche Zeitung reported Thursday.”
Just as with bin Laden, conspiracy theories are already circulating. A Stormfront user by the forum name “BabylonTheGreat” quotes from a 1979 book, The Murder of Rudolf Hess, to argue that the true identity of Rudolf Hess in Spandau has been debated for years, and that the person who died behind those prison walls, and was presumably then buried in Wunsiedel, was actually a body double willingly impersonating Hess. Another user, “Wunddrin,” writes, “Do 93-year-old men all of a sudden become despondent, hop up on a bench or something and hang themselves? Then ‘the prison was demolished shortly afterward and the rubble secretly disposed of.’ Boy, the web of deceit has hopelessly entrapped the spinners by now. But he’s doubly martyred now. I hope that little town gets a lot more attention from the faithful.”
For his part, Black said he hopes the decision to exhume and bury Hess at sea will lead to reflection that might eventually benefit white nationalists. “Hopefully this hysterical reaction to a figure who actually tried to end the war will bring the Germans one step closer to normalization. European governments will have problems with supposed 'extremist Neo-Nazis' so long as they condemn every pro-White movement as racist.” Given the generally positive reaction to the decision in the community, Black may be waiting for that moment for some time.

Germany bans its biggest NS group
(Reuters) - Germany has banned its largest NS association, the HNG, which supports prisoners with far-right views and their families, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday, the government's latest step to curb the influence of radical groups.
The Help Organization for National Political Prisoners and their Families (HNG) is, say German authorities, a threat to society and works against the constitution.
With the slogan "A front inside and outside," the HNG seeks to reinforce prisoners' right-wing views and motivate them to continue their struggle against the system, said the ministry.
"It is no longer acceptable that imprisoned right-wing extremists are being strengthened by the HNG in their aggressive stance against the free, democratic order," Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said in a statement.
"By rejecting the democratic constitutional state and glorifying National Socialism, the HNG tried to keep right wing radical criminals in their own milieu," the ministry said.
The group, founded in 1979, has some 600 members. The ban follows raids in which police seized material from leading HNG members across Germany.
Although far-right groups attract most support in the eastern states, where unemployment is high and prospects few, the raids took place in western states including Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Germany's domestic intelligence agency has said that far-right groups have in the last few years sought to use the financial crisis and euro zone debt crisis to prove that the capitalist system has failed.
The ban comes two weeks after the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD), which espouses the end of parliamentary democracy, regained seats in the state assembly of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is also represented in Saxony.
Right wing groups in Germany, including the NPD, are more radical than populist, anti-immigration parties in the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Sweden which have enjoyed greater success at the ballot box.
Germany's Office for the Protection of the Constitution describes the NPD as racist, anti-Semitic and revisionist and says its statements prove its inspiration comes from the Nazis. The party says the German constitution is a "diktat" imposed by victorious Western powers after World War Two.
Germany has banned several right-wing groups in the last few years but critics say the government needs to do more to weed out extreme views which permeate society.
"It is a sensible, if overdue, step to ban a criminal Organization like the HNG," said Anetta Kahane, head of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation which supports projects to boost civil society.
"But we need to do more to educate people so that they can resist right-wing ideas. For example, judges and the police need to be educated to deal with extremists," she told Reuters.
"The problem of neo-Nazis has not gone away."

Teen pregnancy among Hispanics is rising in Montgomery County, bucking a countywide trend of falling birth rates.
The birth rate for Hispanic 15- to 17-year-olds was 39.7 births per 1,000 females in the period from 2007 to 2009 -- the most recent for which data is available. That is a jump from 33.3 births between 1996 and 1998 and only a slight drop from the 41.6 rate from 2006 to 2008, according to the Maryland Vital Statistics Administration.
Meanwhile, black teens gave birth at a much lower rate of 14.9 babies per 1,000 during 2007-2009 -- the highest rate in the past five years for the group, although it represents a 10-point drop from 15 years ago.

The number of teens seeking pregnancy-related help from school and community health resources has held relatively steady in the past two years, increasing slightly from 830 in the 2009-2010 academic year to 866 last year.
But that may not correlate with birth rates for those years -- which have not been released -- since teens are not required to report when they are pregnant, said Chrisandra Richardson, Montgomery County Public Schools associate superintendent of special education and student services.
Richardson emphasized that her goal is to reduce the number of teens dropping out of school, though that number is already falling. In the 2010-2011 school year, 22 teens known to be pregnant dropped out, compared with 43 in 2009-2010 and 75 in 2008-2009.
But council members expressed frustration that the birth rate has not declined more, and some blamed pop culture.
"There's this pop culture that's been feeding into this acceptance and this celebration of teen moms," said Navarro, citing TV shows like MTV's "16 and Pregnant."
